I have been given an alcohol interlock sentence by the courts, Can I apply for a licence?

You can apply for a licence at a licensing agent (such as AA, VTNZ and others) as they are now able to open under Alert Level 2. Please be aware that there may be wait times due to current demand and the Government COVID-19 public health and safety guidelines that must be followed. For the agents, this includes wiping the eye test and theory testing machines after each use. Please continue to be patient with those providing services as they adjust to working differently. Some people have circumstances that require priority by our agents and we recommend you plan your visit with plenty of extra time so you are not under any pressure if you do need to wait. You may also want to consider delaying your visit if it is not urgent and avoid the busy midday period. Please check our website or the agents website to ensure you take everything you need in with you.

I have an alcohol interlock licence and receive a subsidy for some of the costs. How does COVID-19 affect my subsidy?

The impacts of COVID-19 and the alert levels will be taken into consideration as normal services resume.  The Transport Agency is monitoring the current situation and will review the subsidy impacts as appropriate.
