This information must be read in conjunction with the following caveats.

  • Data is current at 24 May 2020
  • Data is sourced from Auckland Transport, Greater Wellington Regional Council  and Environment Canterbury
  • Data is based off the following for the regions:
    • Auckland has supplied HOP data that encompasses counts for buses, trains and ferries
    • Wellington has supplied Snapper data for buses. We do not have daily or weekly counts for trains and ferries. Between 28 March 2020 and 23 April 2020 the accuracy of the trip data was dependent on correct driver trip selection on the Snapper system as the drivers were manually logging trips.
    • Within the summaries on this page, Christchurch numbers are for buses only. Within the data set spreadsheet (link above), bus and ferry patronage for Christchurch is included.
