lightbulbs lit

NZTA, Local Roading Authorities and KiwiRail require contractors and consultants to submit the location of work completed, or where work is required, using a linear coordinate system. Identifying linear coordinates on the road is a time-consuming activity, requiring specially modified vehicles stopping on the network or the use of approximation from paper map.

Created in 2009 to convert GPS coordinates to linear coordinates, Mobile Road has greatly evolved since. AMA has taken into account feedback and improvement suggestions internally from its business, and externally to further develop additional functions. Mobile Road is available at no cost to the road and rail maintenance industry nationwide.

Estimated results and savings

It currently has the following features; realtime GPS to linear conversion, offline ability on modern phones and tablets, built in inspection tool for field data capture, assets displayed on the map, sesktop version available, job allocation and tracking.
