Terms and Conditions
Agreement to Conditions
By entering the NGA Newmarket Photography competition participants agree to accept and be bound by the competition conditions. Compliance with the conditions is the sole responsibility of the entrant.
All entries become the property of the NZTA and NGA Newmarket. Entrants must be able to verify they are aged between 5 and 18 years old between 12 and 21 August (the competition time) and at school in Auckland. Entry forms must be filled out online, on the NZTA website with photos uploaded digitally - no prints or postal entries please. Final submissions MUST BE received by 5pm on 24 August 2011.
Information about the picture, the camera that was used, and what settings it was on when the picture was taken is usually recorded automatically with each photo taken.
Entrants must keep original high resolution copies and metadata as finalists will be asked to resubmit photos to judges for final evaluation. We reserve the right to retain digital copies of all entries in our photo library, although they may eventually be removed.
Decisions by the organisers, their representatives and judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into. All information concerning those decisions is private to the organisers and will be released solely at their discretion. The organisers reserve the right to not consider an entry for any reason. They also reserve the right, at their discretion, to cancel or change the competition process if they determine the integrity of the competition is or has been undermined.
Conflict of Interest
Judges are bound by the competition criteria. Judges are required to declare any interest in entries over which they deliberate and to disqualify themselves from deliberations concerning those entries.
Limit on organisers’ responsibility and liabilities
No responsibility is accepted for the entry or disqualification of any entrant.
Marketing and promotion
NGA Newmarket reserves the right to use the basic details of any entry for publicity, marketing and promotional purposes relating to the Newmarket Viaduct Replacement Project.
Applicants should request confidentiality if the information provided in their competition entry is not to be released.
Winners are to attend a special prize- giving event, where a copy of their winning entry will be auctioned for charity.
What is the Newmarket Connection?
At the heart of the four year Newmarket Viaduct Replacement Project is a four-stage replacement of the Newmarket Viaduct (motorway flyover), with a wider, stronger, more sustainable new structure.
The Newmarket Viaduct Replacement project also aims to improve pedestrian links around Newmarket and facilitate the opportunity to breathe life back into the viaduct’s surrounding environment.
Motorists who use the viaduct are asked to please Slow Down and respect the current 70kph speed limit, for their own safety and the safety of the Newmarket Connection workforce.
Who are the judges?
The competition judges are Greg Kempthorne, the NGA Newmarket Viaduct Replacement Project photographer and Auckland past President of the NZ Institute of Professional Photographers and Paul Garelja from Progear Professional Photographics in Newmarket.
